Dancing In Leaves

Performance Expressing Grief & Loss. As part of the Century House Association that develops programs for seniors, and the New West Hospice Society's purpose to open up the dialogue around death. This particular program documents a dance and poetry session in Queen's Park where Celeste Nazali Snowber expresses grief and loss in a natural setting through dance and poetry as part of a program by the abovementioned organizations, funded by the City of New Westminster. The intent is to show people how expressing themselves through the arts and/or appreciating the performing, visual and musical and other arts is very helpful in dealing with the ongoing grief that accompanies the loss of a loved ones. Celeste Nazali Snowber, who is a movement instructor at the University of British Columbia, speaks to a small audience in Queen's Park, who have come despite the cold. What we were unable to videotape was Snowber's interaction with some young children who came by to find out what the performance was about.
