CC Roundup: March 24 - Storage Wars

Across Canada, cities are experiencing a trend toward increased urban densification. As more people move into high-rise apartments and compact condominiums, the need for accessible storage solutions has grown. For most – mini-storage sites are the most logical solution. However, the current Local Government Act limits city councils from holding Public Hearings on zoning amendments, creating a challenge for municipalities seeking community input on changes including zoning that affects new mini-storage sites. We listen in on council as they discuss with city staff at the March 24th city council meeting on how to meet the challenges of zoning to allow more residents the ability to store what they can’t keep at home.
